Description
Queens University Belfast – “Queens Pathway”
This is the last of 8 pieces of artwork for Ten Square Hotel, Belfast, as well as Chimney Corner Hotel, Templepatrick. This piece features the entrance to the world famous Lanyon Building of Queens University, Belfast. It was founded by Royal Charter in 1845 and the main building was designed in 1849 by Sir Charles Lanyon. The title for this piece is based on both the physical pathway leading to the main door and the symbolic pathway that all Queens students embark upon. The world renowned poet and Queen’s alumnus Seamus Heaney won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995 (ID: 415).
